Avalanche Safety

Avalanche beaconEquipment
The winter backcountry is a wild and wonderful place, but it also has a dangerous side to it. The snowpack is constantly changing and must be watched, studied, and respected by anyone who ventures out to play on it, even for a few hours. We carry the necessities for taking precaution in the backcountry such as transceivers, shovels and probes.

ShovelKnowledge
The most important piece of equipment you can bring to the winter backcountry is your brain. Educate it by taking an avalanche safety course. Bill Glude, Mike Janes, and Kent Scheler, formerly of the Southeast Alaska Avalanche Center offer classes throBlack Diamond logough the Backcountry Access logoUniversity of
Alaska Southeast in Juneau, Alaska Avalanche Specialists, Alaska Heliskiing, and other course organizers. We encourage you to contact them to learn more about avalanche safety. Contact
